True to the notion that artistic expression is ultimately unbound and fluid, my practice retains an experimental, varied and diverse approach. Creatively, I rely on memory and imagination, often using surrealist techniques for both inspiration and rendering, and I routinely employ methods of stylization and abstraction in order to develop my style. I work around ideas and subject matter that capture my interest, give me reason for contemplation and creative impetus. Since much of my work is project based, I tend to work in stages determined by theme and style, which define and give cohesion to the resulting body of work. Outside such projects my work can be quite loose and freely experimental. In recent years, as a reaction to the all pervasiveness of digitization, I've become increasingly preoccupied with the natural and unsophisticated and rediscovered the joys of pencil drawing, which I still find fascinating in its candour, versatility, readiness and simplicity.
