A variety of surrealist techniques such as automatic drawing, fumage, frottage and other chance procedures and occurrences were used as catalysts for inspiration and for achieving unexpected effects and textures. In addition to graphite and coloured pencils, a range of other mediums provided a basis for experimentation and innovation.
